Building Energy ensures that every member of our team is certified to do the testing and inspections for our clients. Becoming a Certified Energy Rater requires commitment; it is a difficult test and there are rigid procedures that must be adhered to, and every one of our staff is dedicated. All of our Raters are subject to quarterly Quality Assurance in every facet of their job by our national governing agency, RESNET. We are very selective in our hiring process and it shows; we have a stellar group of individuals on board!
Meet Our Team
Ingo Stroup – President and CEO – RESNET Certified HERS Rater/Provider – ICC Certified – ITC Certified Infrared Thermographer – QA Designee
Ingo started Building Energy in the early 2000’s and has steadily grown the business into a full-service energy services company. He previously enjoyed a fifteen year career with the State of Idaho as a Senior Energy Specialist for the Department of Water Resources, Energy Division and the Division of Building Safety. He is known as one of the Northwest’s leading experts in building performance and efficiency. Born in Germany, Ingo is particularly fond of German cuisine and libations. He likes to fish in his spare time and is an avid traveler, preferring tropical destinations.
Colman Lamb – RESNET Certified Rating Field Inspector
Colman is an East coast native where he attended Hobart College, earning a degree in Environmental Studies. He recently moved to Idaho and is excited to start a career in sustainability through building science. He is continuing to learn about the industry and studying for his certifications. In his free time he enjoys riding mountain bikes and motorcycles as well as hiking and skiing.
Diane Rule – Finance Administrator
Diane has been involved in the construction industry for over 15 years and in finance for over 30 years. In addition, she operated her own business for 22 years. Combined, this experience is a perfect fit for Building Energy and we are very happy to welcome Diane to the team. She is responsible for all things financial and will be taking over additional responsibilities in the near future. Hobbies include anything that involves water!
Evan Westphal – RESNET Certified HERS Rater – ENERGY STAR Certified – Certified RESNET Field Assessor – Training Coordinator
Evan is a Boise native and is excited to be a part of assisting with better energy performance of homes in the Treasure Valley. He studied Physics at Boise State and is applying what he learned about Thermodynamics to the field of building science. He spends most weekends in Cascade, where he enjoys swimming and hiking.
Heath Chisholm – RESNET Certified Senior HERS Rater – ENERGY STAR Certified – Green Rater – NGBS Certified
Originally from Missoula, Montana, Heath has been living in Boise since 2012. He graduated with a BA in Environmental Studies and has a genuine interest in sustainability and has taken a lead role in the green programs the company offers. He worked as a fly fishing and raft guide in Glacier Park for 4 years and his other interests include hiking, biking, walking his dog Finley and generally being outdoors.
Jacob Derig – RESNET Certified HERS Rater
Jacob is a native Idahoan and after graduating from the University of Idaho, moved to Seattle, Washington to work in the security industry. Now back in Idaho, Jacob has joined the team and is diligently working on a career in Building Science. In his free time he likes to ride motorcycles and go camping with his dogs.
Jason Noland – RESNET Certified Rating Field Inspector
Jason grew up in Oregon and graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in History. His background as a Home Inspector has been very beneficial in our testing and inspection processes and he is excited to continue to expand his knowledge into Energy Conservation. In his spare time, Jason enjoys traveling, hunting, fishing and is a big supporter of his alma mater.
Lucas Erlendson – RESNET Certified Rating Field Inspector
Raised in the scenic mountains of Northern Idaho, Lucas has fostered a life long passion for sustainability and the natural world. He was awarded his bachelors degree in Environmental Studies in 2019 from Boise State and plans to continue studying human-environment interactions while applying his skills to ensure a beautiful, living world for generations to come. His other interests include studying Mandarin, traveling as often as possible, backpacking, and converting his 1979 ambulance into an off-grid adventure van!
Maggie – Building Energy Mascot
Maggie is a West Highland Terrier. Her responsibilities include greeting visitors to our office, politely begging when there is food around and sleeping a lot.
