Building Energy ensures that every member of our team is certified to do the testing and inspections for our clients. Becoming a Certified Energy Rater requires commitment; it is a difficult test and there are rigid procedures that must be adhered to, and every one of our staff is dedicated. All of our Raters are subject to quarterly Quality Assurance in every facet of their job by our national governing agency, RESNET. We are very selective in our hiring process and it shows; we have a stellar group of individuals on board!
Meet Our Team
Heath Chisholm – General Manager
RESNET Certified HERS Rater/Green Rater – ENERGY STAR Certified – NGBS Certified– RESNET Field Assessor
Originally from Missoula, Montana, Heath has been living in Boise since 2012. He graduated with a BA in Environmental Studies and has a genuine interest in sustainability and has taken a lead role in the green programs the company offers. He worked as a fly fishing and raft guide in Glacier Park for 4 years and his other interests include biking, rafting, fishing, camping, walking the dog and generally being outdoors.
Adam Donovan – RESNET Certified Rating Field Inspector
Originally from Pennsylvania, Adam graduated from Penn State with a degree in Geosciences in 2009. He moved to Idaho in 2019 with a background in environmental consulting and is excited to expand his experience into energy conservation and building science. On weekends Adam enjoys mountain biking, camping, and hiking with his wife and dog.
Colman Lamb – RESNET Certified HERS Rater
Colman is an East coast native where he attended Hobart College, earning a degree in Environmental Studies. He recently moved to Idaho and is excited to start a career in sustainability through building science. He is continuing to learn about the industry and studying for his certifications. In his free time he enjoys riding mountain bikes and motorcycles as well as hiking and skiing.
Diane Rule – Finance Administrator
Diane has been involved in the construction industry for over 15 years and in finance for over 30 years. In addition, she operated her own business for 22 years. Combined, this experience is a perfect fit for Building Energy and we are very happy to have her on the team. She is responsible for all things financial and takes on many roles within the company. Hobbies include anything that involves water.
Jacob Derig – RESNET Certified HERS Rater
Jacob is a native Idahoan and after graduating from the University of Idaho, moved to Seattle, Washington to work in the security industry. Now back in Idaho, Jacob has joined the team and is diligently working on a career in Building Science. In his free time he likes to ride motorcycles and go camping with his dogs.
Jason Noland – RESNET Certified HERS Rater
Jason grew up in Oregon and graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in History. His background as a Home Inspector has been very beneficial in our testing and inspection processes and he is excited to continue to expand his knowledge into Energy Conservation. In his spare time, Jason enjoys traveling, hunting, fishing and is a big supporter of his alma mater.
Lucas Erlendson – RESNET Certified HERS Rater – North Idaho Office
Raised in the scenic mountains of Northern Idaho, Lucas has fostered a life long passion for sustainability and the natural world. He was awarded his bachelors degree in Environmental Studies in 2019 from Boise State and plans to continue studying human-environment interactions while applying his skills to ensure a beautiful, living world for generations to come. His other interests include studying Mandarin, traveling as often as possible, backpacking, and converting his 1979 ambulance into an off-grid adventure van!
Mandy Morrison – Scheduler
A native to Idaho, Mandy studied Business Management at Boise State. She has been involved with startup companies for the past 9 years and enjoys fast pace, innovative industries. Her free time is spent with her husband and 3 children. She loves spending time in the mountains, DIY-ing, and playing the fiddle.
Ryan Hurlburt- RESNET Certified Rating Field Inspector
Ryan is from Salt Lake City, Utah and moved to Boise to attend Boise State. He majored in Urban Studies and Community Development (graduated in May 2020) which fostered a love for the urban landscape and sustainability. His favorite winter activity is skiing, and summer activity is backpacking.
Tyler Ashworth – RESNET Certified Rating Field Inspector
Tyler is a Nampa Idaho Native. After growing up in the construction industry Tyler is furthering his education at Boise State University’s Construction Management program. While at school Tyler met Haley and shortly after were married and started a family , welcoming daughter Macie. During a HVAC class at Boise State Tyler’s interest in Building and Energy Science drove him to look at learning more about the field. In his free time Tyler enjoys time with his family by going camping and hiking in the Treasure Valley.
